Obituary of Bobby Mason Wood

PELION—A graveside service for Bobby Mason Wood, 80, of Pelion, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Addy. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Mike Baxter, Brad Pardee, Jim Brewer, Richard Gilmore and Jimmy Patrick. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013 at Woodridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. Mr. Wood, beloved husband of 60 years to Patsy Cooper Wood, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James Marshall and Lula Lawson Wood. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War and a former member of Jamil Temple. Mr. Wood also served in the United States Army and the South Carolina Army National Guard. He retired from Corp of Engineers at Ft. Jackson. Mr. Wood was considered the "Neighborhood Dad". Surviving in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Carolyn Jackson (Tommy) of Wagener, Donna Pardee (Rusty) of Chapin, Cindy McGee of Pelion and Pam Hall (Steve) of Gilbert; grandchildren, Mark Player, Jr., Michelle Gilmore, Brad Pardee, Melissa Patrick, Angela Griffin, Heather Noffko, Aiden Jackson, Ashley Pardee, Haley Pardee Stier, Sara Yarborough and Melanie Wood; 16 great-grandchildren; "Mom" Mary Wood of West Columbia; sister, Sarah Crouch of West Columbia; brother, Rev. Jim Wood of Roanoke, VA; brother-in-law, Robert Cooper of Gaston. He was preceded in death by his son, "Rocky" Wood, sister, Marcell (Monkey) Baxter; brothers, Carl Wood, Earl Wood and Harold Wood.
