Obituary of Mildred Downs Long

Mildred Downs Long, 92, of West Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013. To honor the life of Mildred, a memorial service will be held at Westside Baptist Church at 2:00pm Monday May 13, 2013 the family will receive friends following the service at the church. She was a sweet, caring, loving, strong, courageous woman who overcame limitations with grace and dignity all of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her kindness and sweet spirit. She was the daughter of the late JC and Frances Downs and the wife of the late, Meredith (Shorty) Long. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Rudy Long (Jeanette), Frank Long (Brenda) and Wade Long (Carrie), brother, Jouette Downs (Ellen); 6 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. The family would like to thank the staff at Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living and Agape Senior Center for the care of Mildred.
