Obituary of Beverly Joyce Watson

OBITUARY – Beverly Joyce “BJ” Watson – Columbia – Funeral Services, with US Army honors, for Beverly Joyce “BJ” Watson, 59, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 12, 2020 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29223.  The family will hold a funeral wake from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.

Beverly Watson passed away in her home in Columbia, SC. Born in Columbia; she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lizzie Watson, the late Deloris Williams, and Samuel Myers, Jr. A 1979 graduate of Dreher High School, Beverly enlisted in the US Army to proudly serve her country. During her military career, she was in charge of Supply and Logistics at several military installations. She later became a disabled veteran, and advocated for the rights of disabled veterans and their families. Beverly, or “BJ”, as she was known to her family, enjoyed dancing, music and writing.

In addition to her father, Beverly is survived by her daughter, Melissa Watson Ward (Keith) of Columbia; brothers, Edward Watson (Gail) of Columbia, Frederick Watson, Sr. (Pearline) of Columbia, Gregory Watson (Kecia) of Columbia, Ryan Myers of Columbia, Samuel Myers, III, of Columbia, Stanley Etheredge of St. Joseph, MO, Trey Myers of Columbia; sisters, Jacqueline Morant of Columbia, Judith Hallman of Columbia, Kathleen Pearson (Joseph, Sr.) of Columbia, Seledia Serina (Robert) of Columbia, Stephanie Myers of Columbia. Beverly is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins, including her close cousin, Cynthia Hallman.

Beverly was predeceased by her mothers, Lizzie Watson and Deloris Williams; father, Samuel Watson; daughter, Rhonda Boyd; sister, Jeanette Boyd; brother, Samuel Watson.
