Obituary of Hazel D. Stapleton

OBITUARY – Hazel D. Stapleton – Lexington – Services for Hazel D. Stapleton, 89, of Lexington and formerly of Pueblo, CO, will be announced. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hazel Stapleton went to meet the Lord on October 1, 2020 at home with her daughters by her side. Born in Lawton OK, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A and Sammie Eugene Hennessee.  She was married to Marvin Eugene Stapleton for 68 years prior to his passing in 2015.  Following the passing of Marvin, Hazel lived with her daughter Jackie for 4 ½ years.  They, Jackie and Will, consider it a privilege that they were able to offer her a home.  She spent the last 3 months with her daughter, Jeannette and Herbert Moss.  Hazel was loved by her family and friends and will surely be missed by all.

Hazel was a charter member of Praise Assembly of God in Pueblo CO, and a charter member of Reflection Fellowship, Lexington, SC.  Hazel and Marvin spent their retirement traveling with the Maps RV Group building church buildings, repairing Church campgrounds, etc, using their gifts, talents and hard work to further the kingdom of God.  

Hazel is survived by her children; son, David Stapleton of Gaston, SC; daughters, Jackie Evans (Will) of West Columbia, Jeanette Moss of Lexington (Herbert); son, Jesse Stapleton (Debbie) of Springfield, CO; eight grandchildren, Diana Hoke (John), Cindy Mason, Kyle Mason, Katelyn Mason, William Evans, III, (Tammy), Kimberly Boyd (Reggie), Greg Evans (Stephanie), Nichole Weir, Hannah Weir-Barton, Elizabeth Kent, LaVaughn Hollingsworth (Brad), Jesse Stapleton, Jr. (Chelsea); eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Joan Buzbee (Bill) of Lawton, OK; brother, Roger Hennessee (Ginny) of Lawton, OK; and a large and loving extended family. In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Marvin Stapleton; brothers, Melvin, Gene, Jack Hennessee; sisters, Carolyn Sue Brown, Jovida Hennessee.
