The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington.

Jean Twining passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness on October 16, 2019. Born in Springfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Alcide and Mary Lambert. After a career of 29 years as a clerk with the US Postal Service, she retired to the Midlands in 2016. Jean loved the Lord and served Him faithfully and diligently.  Jean’s great passion was to teach first and second graders in Sunday School, which she enjoyed doing for 44 years. Several years ago, she won the New England Sunday School Teacher of the Year Award, for excellence in the classroom. Over the years, many former students have returned to thank her for what she meant in their lives. Her life-long dream was to visit Israel, and she did so in 2015.

Even though retired, she taught adults in Sunday School occasionally at Northside Baptist Church in Lexington. She was a prayer warrior and soul winner wherever she went, and with whomever she came into contact. She will be sadly missed by all.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Everett E. Twining; 4 sons, Donald Twining of Cayce, Christopher Melarango of Charlotte, NC, Sean  of Waynesboro, VA, and Eric of Agawam, MA. She is also survived by sisters, Carolyn Villeneuve of Springfield, MA, Patricia Girard of Columbia, SC, Jo Michelle Runer of Elgin, SC; brother, Alcide Lambert, III, of Chapin, SC; grandchildren, Justin Twining of Cayce, Cameron Sanderson of Springfield, MA, Makayla Melarango of Germantown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Northside Baptist Church Global Missions Fund, 4347 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072
