Obituary of Howard Strange

Howard Strange , 86 , of Chapin, husband of Jo-Ann Strange, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, May 21, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 25, 1931 in Georgia to the late Edward Lester Strange and Gladys Marie Mosley Strange. He retired from the City of Columbia as Assistant Superintendent of the Street Division. Howard loved gardening and fishing, but loved spending time with family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather and great-grandfather. Howard will be greatly missed by his family. In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Sharpe (David); one sister, Ruby Lee Dukes; three grandchildren, Amanda Sharpe, Angela Peeples and Pamela Chapman; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; E.L., Marvin and Olin Dee Strange. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 ,at Woodridge Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Joseph Evans and Krista, Dr. Chelsea Stillwell and the staff and his caregivers at Compassionate Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
