Obituary of Betty Hobbs Roberts

Betty Hobbs Roberts, 79, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away May 11, 2024 at her residence in Lexington, South Carolina. She was born on June 12, 1944 in Newport News, Virginia to Buford and Lura (Thigpen) Hobbs.

 

Betty was a graduate of Walterboro High School. She retired from SCE&G with forty years as a secretary with the Transportation Department. Betty's many hobbies included gardening, quilting, cross stitching, making floral arrangements, baking and shopping. As a very active member of her community, Betty was a devoted member of Lexington Baptist Church. She provided homemade sourdough bread for many shut-ins during her time there. She also volunteered at Lexington Medical Center and visited many people at local nursing homes. She was also a member of the Red Hats and Order of the Eastern Star.

 

Betty is survived by her husband of sixty and-a-half years, Donald Ray Roberts; her sister, Sandy Woosley (Duane); her children, Debbie Harmon, and Lisa Lee (Bryan); her grandchildren, Brian Harmon Jr. (Sarah), Jessica Dunn (Byron), Jacob H. Lee, and Cameron R. Lee (Madison); and her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Maggie, and Silas Dunn; Jackson and Teagan Harmon and Maria Lee. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Lura Hobbs.

 

The family will receive friends at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC, 29072 on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am (following the visitation).  Sr. Adult Pastor, Dan Williams, will officiate.

 

The family would like to thank Seria Canon, Sharon Austin, and Amy Reibold of Daybreak Adult Services and Tiffany Cordero, Shawntisa Harrison, David Chudd, Anne Abel, Nicole Frost, Autumn Herbert, and Chaplain Cory Hardy of Lighthouse Hospice Group.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lighthouse Hospice Group, 110 Oak Park Drive, Irmo, SC 29063, or Lexington Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 308 E.
