Janet Phillips passed away May 2, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Andrew Davis and Sue Rister Davis. Janet graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1964. She retired from the Social Security Administration in 2002 in order to focus her efforts on spoiling her grandson, Nolan and granddaughter, Addie.

Janet was more than just a wife, mom, daughter, sister, nanny, or aunt; she was the epitome of love, selflessness, hard work, and compassion. She always put everyone else ahead of herself. Her hobbies included gardening and crafting, but some of her greatest joys were keeping up with her grandkids activities, visiting “her girls” in Florida, and hanging by the grill with her son. She had many friends that she enjoyed visiting with: Millie (her lifelong “partner in crime”), Sheila, Sheri, Diane, and many others not listed.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Bob Phillips; son, Henry Phillips (Bonnie) of Lexington; grandchildren, Nolan and Addie Phillips; honorary granddaughter, Brooke Davis; brothers, Chuck Davis (Althea), Mike Davis (Michelle), Bruce Mead, Larry Allbritton (Sharon), Mike Allbritton, and David Allbritton; sister, Diane Snider; sister-in-law, Pat Brown (Paul), and Glenda Davis (Brian). Janet is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Bobby Rister to whom she considered her “big brother.” In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brother, Brian Davis.

The family would like to thank the many friends who called and offered their condolences. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a rose or a flower of your choice to remind you of the love she gave, and that you share a picture of it with her family.
