Obituary of Perle B. Haygood

Perle B. Haygood, 85, of Lexington, SC went home to the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, January 4, 2023, following a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Perle was born in Cameron, South Carolina to the late Capers John Brandenburg and Myrtis Elise Sandel Brandenburg.

After she finished her schooling, Perle moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked as an airline stewardess. During that time, she met her future husband, and had two children and they moved to Lexington, South Carolina. She worked for a local dress shop and for the county court house. She then worked and retired from Simplex; now Johnson Controls. This is where she met and married Horace and they moved to Winnsboro, South Carolina.

She loved going to the beach and mountains, visiting with her friends, and she loved the Lord; who has given her a new body and restored all her thoughts and memories.

Perle is survived by her children, Angelia G. Sox (Ronnie) and Susanne Griggs; her grandsons, Michael Kyzer and Daniel Griggs. In addition to her parents, Perle was predeceased by her husband, Horace R. Haygood and husband, William “Bill” Griggs; and her favorite fur buddy, “Bill”.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Northwood Baptist Church, 218 Blackjack Oak Lane. Lexington, SC 29073.
