Obituary of Wilma Arlene Sandlin

Wilma Arlene Sandlin – Irmo, SC – A Homegoing service for Wilma Sandlin, 88, of Irmo, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home.

Wilma Sandlin passed away December 22, 2022. Born in Monticello, KY, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida Coffey. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed by all who knew her.

Wilma is survived by her loving Husband of 65 years, Billie Sandlin; Sons, Bill D. Sandlin (Sue Ann) of Indiana, Dwayne Sandlin (B.J.) of Irmo; Grandchildren, Nikki Spencer (Ashton), Andy Sandlin (Madyson), Emori Sandlin; Sisters, Inez Sloan of Monticello, KY and Carlene Smith (Tom) of Cincinnati, OH. In addition to her parents, Wilma was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Wilma had a strong faith in God and made sure any time the church doors were open, she and her family were there.  She taught her children to memorize Bible verses and never doubt the Lord was real.  Wilma's compassion for others was apparent as she was often known as the neighborhood "mom".  Her house was always open as a safe place for her boys and their friends to play or hang out. There was always food on the table if they needed a meal and all were welcome. Affectionately known as "Nana", her 3 Grandchildren meant the world to her and were one of her greatest treasures. Her legacy truly is her family and the values she instilled in each of them.  Family was everything to Wilma and for such a small woman her big heart and strong faith made a lasting impact on so many people. She will be greatly missed but we know we will all she her again one day.
