Obituary of Donna Gail Roof

A Celebration of Life Service for Donna G. Roof, 64, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Elmwood Avenue Church of God, 1427 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201. Pastor Jay Brunson and Rev. Reese Byrd will officiate.

Donna Roof passed away peacefully November 2, 2022. Born in Rome, NY, she was a daughter of the late John H. Martindale and Queen E. Martindale. Donna was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt who loved her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Elmwood Avenue Church of God, where she sang in the choir. Donna, who had a terrific sense of humor, loved to travel, especially to the beach. Donna was a great cook, and was known for her fried chicken and mac and cheese. She and her wonderful laugh will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Christina Epps (Herbert) of Beacon, NY; 2 grandsons, Isaiah and Elijah Epps; brothers, John H. Martindale, Jr. (Evelyn) of Calhoun, GA, David W. Martindale of Columbia, Keith D. Martindale (Michelle) of Lyman, SC; sister, Lisa R. Busbee (Len) of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Phillip A. Martindale of Columbia and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Donna was also predeceased by her sister, Theresa L. Darnell.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Sedgewood Manor and Crescent Hospice for their exceptional care of Donna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elmwood Avenue Church of God, 1427 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201.
