Obituary of Jane A Martin

Funeral services for Jane A. Martin, 82, of Fort Mill, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022, at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Lybrand Cemetery, Delree Street, West Columbia, SC. Family will receive friends prior to the service at the church between 1:00-1:45 p.m.

Jane entered Heaven on Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was a twin daughter of the late I.B. Amick, Sr. and Birdie Amick. Jane graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1958, and she retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission. Jane was a sweet soul and a natural caregiver.

When her mother passed away, Jane became the matriarch of her family. She was always looking for opportunities to care for her loved ones and others. When her twin sister Joan was diagnosed with breast cancer, she temporarily moved in to help take care of her and provide child care for her great nephew. 

Jane was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, Kevin, Jamie and Amy. She was also the best Nanny to Blake and Laney Grace who were the apples of her eye. Jane was a life-long, devout Christian. Next to attending church and serving on the bereavement committee, she loved gathering with family and friends.

Jane was an excellent cook and baker and she welcomed any occasion to use these talents. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and singing for others brought her immense joy.

Jane is survived by her sons Kevin Martin and Jamie Martin; daughter Amy Martin Bovender, and grandchildren Blake Bovender and Laney Grace Bovender; brother-in-law Charles Moore; nephews Steve Amick (Wendy), Jayson Moore, and Scott Moore (Cristi); great nephew Seth Moore and great nieces Kaylee Moore and Abby Moore. In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brothers, I.B. “Junior” Amick and Reginald “Red” Amick; and sisters, Sandra Amick and Joan Moore.
