Obituary of Joan Kearse

S. Joan Kearse – A Celebration of Life service for S. Joan Kearse, 74, of West Columbia, will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Pastor Larry “Butch” Shull will officiate. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service in the Woodridge Mausoleum Chapel. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. In honor of Joan, the family asks those attending her visitation and service to wear purple, and, if sending flowers, please consider purple flowers to further honor her memory.

Joan Kearse went Home to be with Jesus on June 15, 2022. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Roscoe Shealy and Hazel Lee Shealy. Joan was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who devoted her later years to the care of her beloved grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing computer games and the Gameshow Network.

Joan is survived by her children; sons, Richard Ard (Hope) of West Columbia, Jody Ard of West Columbia; grandchildren, Bradley Farley, William “Will” Ard, Ava Ard, Cody LaRocque (Lindsay), Ryan Dixon (Lexus); great-granddaughter, Lilly Dixon. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, William “Hump” Cauthen; son, Bobby Ard; sister, Sandra Lucas; brother, Ronnie Shealy.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at MUSC Providence Medical Center for their loving and constant care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
