
Obituary of Carol Lynn Williams
Carol Lynn Williams – Lexington – A Celebration of Life service for Carol Lynn Williams, 98, of Lexington, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Lexington Presbyterian Church, 246 Barr Road, Lexington, SC. Pastor Chuck Parker will officiate. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service (1:00 – 2:00 PM) in the church parlor. Interment will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington.
Carol Williams passed away June 5, 2022. Born in Camden, SC, she was a daughter of the late Fred Busbee Williams and Pearl Neese Williams. A graduate of Winthrop College with a double major in Latin and English, Carol went on to attain her Master’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. She was the author of three historical novels highlighting her family’s immigration to the United States from Switzerland. Her career was in education; she taught high school in Gastonia, NC and also taught at Lexington High School and Brookland-Cayce High School. She taught on the college level at College of the Ozarks in Branson, MO and spent many years at Montreat Anderson. Carol’s faith was very strong; she was truly a prayer warrior. She was one of the very first members of Lexington Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped for many years.
Carol is survived by her sisters; Joyce Williams Bethea of Latta, SC, Patricia Anne Williams of Columbia; nieces, Joy Bethea Cutler (Howard) of Richmond, VA, Jenny Bethea Foley (Chris) of Blairsville, Georgia; nephews, Henry L. “Hank” Bethea, III (Barbara) of Lillington, NC, Christopher L. Bethea of Myrtle Beach; many loving great nieces, great nephews and other family members, including Connie Parker (Bethea) Pickens of Anderson, SC. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by a nephew, Fred Williams Bethea; and a brother-in-law, Henry Louis Bethea, Jr.
The family would like to expressly thank her church family for their loving and attentive care during the past several years of Carol’s life, especially Tom and Judy Roach, Anita Boland, Linda Sledge and “The Romans” group for their un-ceasing Christian love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Presbyterian Church, 246 Barr Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
