Phil McDill

Obituary of Phil McDill

Phillip Wade McDill went home to be with his Lord on March 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Billie McDill and his sister, Cynthia Fetzer. He is survived by his wife, Carol McDill; two sons, Stephen and Joshua (Kelsey); brothers, Danny McDill (Angela) and David McDill; brother-in-law, Tom Fetzer; two grandsons, Liam and Mitchell McDill, along with nieces and nephews.

Service and burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 1, 2022 at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, South Carolina. At the age of eight, Phil felt that the Lord wanted
him to serve people through the practice of medicine. He graduated from the
University of Mississippi Medical School in 1983. He completed his internship and
residency in Roanoke, Virginia and New Orleans, Louisiana, respectively. He practiced
emergency medicine in Alleghany County, Virginia for 10 years before returning
to Mississippi. He practiced medicine for 25 years with MEA Medical Clinics
until his retirement in May, 2018.

Because Phil had trusted in Jesus Christ as a boy, his faith determined his choices. He
worshiped and served as an Elder at Grace Bible Church in Ridgeland, MS for
over 18 years. He was thankful for the opportunity to serve his Lord through
the church and its missions ministry.

In July 2018, Phil and his wife Carol moved to Columbia, South Carolina to join their
two sons. In Columbia, he enjoyed time with his sons, daughter-in-law and her
parents, and his grandsons. Memorial gifts may be sent to First Presbyterian
Church of Columbia, SC (designated for the Organ Project). Phil enjoyed the
ministry of the organ as he worshiped online with First Presbyterian Church.
