Moore, 82, of West Columbia, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Lybrand Cemetery, Delree Street, West Columbia, SC. Joan entered Heaven on Monday, March 21, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a twin daughter of the late I.B. Amick, Sr. and Birdie Amick. Joan graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1958. In 1961, Joan married Charles Moore in her family home. Her uncle was a pastor and he performed the ceremony. Joan worked as an administrative professional for the state of South Carolina before retiring and taking on the role that gave her the most joy in life – Grandmama. She loved her three babies immeasurably and could not dote on them enough.

Joan was a gifted church pianist who served for more than 35 years at two West Columbia Baptist churches. She had a beautiful voice and often sang duets with her twin sister, Jane, or performed in small groups and church choirs. Music was a lifelong passion and a talent that she passed on to her sons and grandchildren. Joan became a deacon’s wife in 1968 and was very supportive of Charles’ duties as a deacon. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church, Columbia, SC.

Joan grew up a tomboy who enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. She has always had a competitive streak; Joan loved to win and hated to lose. As a mom, she cheered her children Jay and Scott on as they played baseball and she was often one of the loudest voices in the stands. She also loved watching her favorite teams win – the Gamecocks and Braves.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Charles Moore; sons, Jayson Moore and Scott Moore (Cristi); grandchildren, Seth Moore, Kaylee Moore and Abby Moore; twin sister, Jane Martin; nephews, Steve Amick (Wendy), Kevin Martin and Jamie Martin; niece, Amy Martin Bovender, great-nephew, Blake Bovender and great-niece, Laney Grace Bovender; and her extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brothers, I.B. “Junior” Amick and Reginald “Red” Amick; sister, Sandra Amick; and children, Angela Valerie Moore and Charles Michael Moore.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of NHC HealthCare Lexington and Abbey Road Hospice for their attentive care; friend Dorothy Fagen for visiting Joan and helping with the Moore’s 61 wedding celebration; and neighbor and friend Agnes Johnson for always lending a helping hand.
