Obituary of Bishop Delano Austin Cantrell

Chapin, South Carolina-Bishop Delano Austin Cantrell, 88, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2022.  Born July 13, 1933, in Carrolton, Georgia, to Vera Abbott Cantrell Brown and Robert Lee Cantrell. Delano was raised by his mother and his beloved step-father, Bill Brown.

 

Delano served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. Delano later gave his life to the Lord and was ordained into ministry. He graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in 1978 with a Bachelor of Ministry in Biblical Studies.

 

Bishop Cantrell served several churches and then in 1980 he founded the Alpha and Omega Church of Christian Fellowship in Irmo, South Carolina where he served as head pastor for 40 years. In 2017, Delano was honored by being ordained as a Bishop with the Apostolic Church.

 

Bishop Cantrell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth Gandy Cantrell; sons, Brown Cantrell, Timothy (Donna) Cantrell and Myron (Andrea) Cantrell; grandchildren, Joshua (Charlotte) Cantrell, Amanda (Bradley) Hook, Benjamin (Maegan) Cantrell, Blake (McKensey) Cantrell, Kendell (Ryan) Stoudemire; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bishop Cantrell was pre-deceased by his daughter-in-law, Patricia Reece Cantrell.
