Obituary of Betty Lou Dodson Mathis

Betty Lou Dodson Mathis, 82, of Columbia, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 24, 2018. She was born on July 11, 1936 in Fancy Farm, KY to the late Homer and Dellar Burgess Dodson.

Betty's first job was at a dime store/soda shop in Mayfield, Ky. After marrying and moving to Columbia she worked various places including Friedman Jewelers and Shakespeare Rod and Reels. Betty loved bowling, dancing, fishing, family trips and cooking.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Denise Knight of Columbia and Patsy Lawrence of Irmo; sons, Terry (Marie) Mathis of Eastover and Timothy (Yvonne) Mathis of Columbia; brothers, Ted Dodson, Bobbie Dodson both of  Boaz, KY and Junior Dodson of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Travis, Troy, Kristin, Ryan and Tyler; great grandchildren, Jonas, Noah, Scarlett, Gracie, Leela and Hazel. In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by one sister, Gertrude Toon of Mayfield, KY; and brother, DC Dodson of Detroit, MI.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 31, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Woodridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
