Obituary of Rudy Hopkins

OBITUARY – William Rudolph “Rudy” Hopkins – Lexington – A Homegoing service with USAF funeral honors for William “Rudy” Hopkins, 85, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Lakefront Gazebo at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Pastor Donnie Murdock will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the Gazebo. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rudy Hopkins passed away January 3, 2022. Born in Pendleton, SC he was a son of the late James Frank Hopkins and Callie Smith Hopkins. Rudy served his country in the US Air Force, and had retired from SCE&G  V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. He was a Jamil Shriner, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Rudy is survived by his children; son, Steve Hopkins (Wendy) of Gilbert; daughters, Debbie Yasmine of Jacksonville, FL, Vicki Hopkins of Lexington, Diane Raimey of Ft. Myers, FL, Patti Rosenberg (Stuart) of Virginia;  three grandchildren, Jeffery Yasmine, Neil Hopkins and Nikki Hopkins; sister, Marion Trammell. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. 

In addition to his parents, Rudy was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Rosa Lee Hopkins; brother, Wilton Hopkins; sisters, Audrey Close and Edith Murdock; brother-in-law, Dewey Trammell.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the 3rd and 5th floors of Lexington Medical Center for their attentive care of Rudy.
