Obituary of Wilfredo Sanchez
Wilfredo Sanchez passed away November 3, 2021 at the age of 57 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Wilfredo is survived by his mother, Sylvia Sanchez; his wife, Evelyn Fonseca; his two daughters, Sylvia Prophett and Marilyn Duvall; his brothers Raymond "Eddie" Sanchez, Oscar Rivera and best friend Keith Owens; his sisters Olga Escobar, Lucy Sanchez, Kayla Rivera, Valeria Rivera, and Christina Rivera; his four grandchildren Delani, Naima, Wayne and Jasmine Prophett; his aunts Petra and Carmen Castro; and a multitude of other family and friends.
Wilfredo was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 23, 1963 to Raymond (Don Pedro) and Sylvia Sanchez. Wilfredo, beloved by his family and friends, went by many nicknames such as "Willie", "Fredo", "Quitito" and most commonly, "Sanchez". In the early 1990s, Wilfredo moved to South Carolina from Brooklyn to start a new life where he proudly raised his two daughters, Sylvia and Marilyn, with his wife, Evelyn.
He quickly found work as a residential maintenance technician and worked hard to provide for his family. Wilfredo took immense pride in his work, always placing an emphasis on being prompt and doing what he said he would do. For Wilfredo, his word was his bond and he could always be counted on.
Wilfredo loved music, sports and was an excellent dominoes player. He was truly a jack of all trades -- a self-taught mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber and overall handyman.
Most importantly, he was admittedly a mama’s boy and adored his mother, Sylvia. Wilfredo Sanchez will be deeply missed by his loving family and all those that knew him.
A funeral service will be held for Wilfredo Sanchez on Friday November 12, 2021 at Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks for the kind words and prayers received during this difficult time.
