Obituary for Mary Helen Robar
Mary Helen Robar passed away on October 6, 2021. Born in Detroit, MI on March 21, 1926, she was the daughter of Clyde Anderson Reak and Nellie Hulsman Reak.
Mary held a variety of jobs; Air Traffic Control with TWA, Medical assistant and administrative assistant to name a few. She was a member of AF Officers wives Club and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed Square Dancing, world travel, ceramics, sewing and scrapbooking.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL. She also mentored young mothers winning her the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch for the 1996 Olympic Games.
Mary is survived by her children; son, Robert Robar (Diane) and (Pat, the mother of their children), their son, Roger Robar (Alice) and children Bobbie and Mary and their daughter, Dawn Dukes (Clayton) and daughter Jamisen; Jackie Patton (Alan Deceased}, their sons Doug Patton (Cathy) and their sons Kyle, Kevin and Dan Patton (April) and their sons, Alex and Adam; Sue Covey (Bob); their children Pam Hess (Philip), their children Megan, Philip and Tina Foster (Mark) and their children Sara, David, Rebecca and John; Richard Robar(Nancy) and (Libby {Deceased} their sons, Ryan Robar (Cathy) and children Rykker and Rayla; Patricik Robar and son Dominick.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Major Robert Clyde Robar; brother, William Reak; sister, Grace Campbell.
The family would like to thank the staffs at The Blake Assisted Living Center, Lighthouse Hospice and Agape Care Hospice House for their attentive loving care.
Services will be held at Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, SC on October 23, 2021 at 3:00 PM. A later service will be held at Birmingham United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA on October 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with interment in Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
