Obituary of Benjamin Gabus

Benjamin Gabus passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was born in Galveston,TX and lived in Lexington, SC for the past 33 years. He was a beloved father and friend. Ben was a singer-songwriter and country western artist. His accomplishments include appearing on the Louisiana Hayride, the Grand Ole Opry and the Ed Sullivan Show. In addition to this, he sang on a European tour and recorded numerous original records. He entertained in several locations in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Nashville. After retiring from his singing career, he started Ben Gabus Tree Service and served the Lexington and Columbia area. 

Ben was preceded in death by his father George Henry Gabus; mother, Velva Agnes Wells Gabus; and brother, James Gabus. He is survived by his brothers, Joe Gabus and John Gabus; sister, Pauline Gabus; four children, Ricky Dan Gabus (Dennise), Greg Gabus, Sarena Peace (Steve), and Mallie Taylor (Henry); six grandchildren, Matthew Peace (Katya), Melanie Rapp (Kyle), Morgan Peace, Maurice "Mickey" Peace, Justin Taylor and Sarah Taylor; three great grandchildren, Liam Rapp, Drew Rapp and Nylah Rankin.
