Obituary of William Ernest Canders

William Ernest Canders Jr., formerly of Binghamton, NY, passed away on August 20, 2010. He was born on November 22, 1913 in Rumford, Maine. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, and four brothers and sisters. Mr. Canders is survived by his sister, Jeannette Rist; his son, Phillip James Canders (Deborah); his daughter, Susan Lee Carter (Steve); eight grandchildren: Stephanie Leatherman (Joe), Jill Ferratt (Mason), Jeff Carter, Tim Carter (Erica Seddig), Jeremy Carter (Tracy Taylor), David Carter, Michelle Caughman and Sean Cary; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Canders earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maine in 1934, with the support of his "angels," Mr. and Mrs. Parker or Rumford. He retired from the New York State Electric & Gas Co. in 1978. Before and after retirement, he and Dorothy enjoyed many years of square dancing, skiing and travel.
