Obituary of Dean Ray Williamson

OBITUARY – Dean Ray Williamson – A Celebration of Life service for Dean Ray Williamson, 70, of West Columbia, will be held at Fitzgerald Church of God, 601 South Merrimac Drive, Fitzgerald, GA 31750, at a time to be determined. He will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Williamsville, IL at a later date. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Dean Ray Williamson entered Heaven’s gates on July 31, 2021 at 6:15 AM. Born in in Springfield, Illinois, he was a son of Frances Max Williamson and the late Carroll O. Williamson. Dean was married to Bonita K. Scarborough in July 1989. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who was dearly loved by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren, with whom he greatly enjoyed spending time, and treasured each moment. His wife and family were his world.

Dean, who grew up on a farm in Illinois, graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in Pleasant Plains, IL, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He enjoyed a career in banking, and had worked as both a Bank Officer and Vice President of Loan and Compliance for over 38 years. Dean was a member of Fitzgerald  Church of God in Fitzgerald, GA, and Bethesda Church of God in Sumter, SC for over 25 years.

In addition to his mother, Frances Williamson, Dean is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Bonita S. Williamson; sons, Jeremiah Williamson of California, Philip Scarborough of Lexington, SC, Brian Scarborough of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Olivia Williamson of California, Cody and Kinami Scarborough of Charlotte, NC; sister, JoAnn Niccolls of Springfield, IL; brother, Donn Williamson (Judy) of Alma, NE, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, Dean was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Lucy Max; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Amy Williamson.
