Obituary of Judith Wicker Ruff

Judith "Judy" Wicker Ruff of Chapin, SC passed away at her home on Lake Murray Friday August 6,2021 after a battle with dementia.

Judy was born November 10, 1943 in Parr, SC, the daughter of Ernest & Mabel Watson Wicker. She was a 1961 Graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. Judy earned her degree in cosmetology from the Iberia and Don Bonet Beauty School in Columbia, opening JURA'S Salon in 5 Points, and later became the co-owner of Devine Styles in Columbia with her friend and business partner, Ada Jolly.

Judy, also known as Mama, Andmom, Ms. Judy and Ms. Twinkle was fun, fiercely independent and loyal to her clients, rarely ever missing a day of work. She enjoyed Lake Life to the fullest; staying outside from dawn until dusk, keeping her windows open when in-doors. Judy looked forward to hosting events, specifically her annual 4th of July Celebration, ensuring that her family participated in the boat parade, winning and serving as Grand Marshal many times. When not working, doing yard work, or enjoying the lake, Judy was traveling.  She could often be found sitting on a beautiful beach until dark, socializing, enjoying a cocktail and teaching everyone our State Dance, The Shag.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Ray E. Ruff, Jr., and her nephew, Edward Wicker.

Surviving are her daughter and granddaughter, Leslie Rae (Tim Amann) and Rae Charlton Bundrick of Chapin, brother, Watson Wicker (Jen), sister-in-law, Cathy Wilson, nieces and nephews, Melissa & Andy Taylor, Jordan, George & Adley Meredith, John Orr, Richie and Clarke Wilson; special daughters and granddaughter, Paula Melton Pinner (Gregg), Kelley Garick-Kelly (Kyle), Kadelyn Kelly and life-long friends, Ms. Joey Moynihan & Family, Douglas & Polly Melton & family, Ms. Charlotte Gibbs, Mrs. Susie Lanier Smith, Mr. Paul Fischl, and many close friends, family and neighbors.
