Obituary of Gary Lee Gillion

Gary Lee Gillion – Columbia – A Celebration of Life Gathering for Gary Lee Gillion, 61, of Columbia, will be held at a later date. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. Gary Gillion passed away July 30, 2021. Born in Charleston, he was a son of Julia Nell Griffin Gillion, and the late James Carroll Gillion. Gary was a loving father, brother and son who enjoyed USC Gamecocks athletics and time spent on Lake Murray. He loved making people laugh, and was well known for his great sense of humor and wit. He enjoyed a good political debate, and was always open to hearing alternative points of view and perspectives.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his daughter, Kristen Gillion of Myrtle Beach; sister, Catherine Pitts (Brooks) of Lake Wateree, SC; brother, James Gillion (Melissa) of Irmo; nieces and nephews, Brian Gulliver, Beth Gulliver-Ward, Melissa Robinson, Leigh Anne Poole, Katie Shealy, and Justin Gillion and a large and loving extended family. Gary was predeceased by his father.
