Obituary of Guy Lindy Epps

Guy Lindy Epps, 84, of West Columbia passed away peacefully on Monday evening December 19, 2011 in Lexington Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born June 6, 1927 in West Columbia, SC he was the son of the late John P. and Sadie Gray Epps. Guy served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. While in the service he had the privilege of playing football for the Army. Guy was a gifted athlete playing several sports and was honored by being inducted into the Brooklyn-Cayce High School Hall of Fame in 2010. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills in 1981. Guy loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. ?A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.? ?William Hazlitt. Guy was a quiet gentle man and would enjoy sitting on his front porch and brightening people?s day by offering a friendly wave. His small act brought joy to many people?s days. Besides his parents, Guy is predeceased by his three brothers Graham, Jack and Jimmy Epps. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Maggie Frick Epps; son Lindy Epps Jr of West Columbia; daughter Linda (Ed) Culli of Lexington; step-son Edward (Beth) Stillinger of Chapin and step-son Ted (Reggie) Stillinger of Chapin and sister Margaret Perry of West Columbia. Guy is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Visitation which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 4-6 P.M. at Woodridge Funeral Home 138 Corley Mill Road Lexington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodridge Funeral Home.
