Obituary of Toni DiStiso Byrd

Toni K. DiStiso Byrd, 57, of Lexington, SC passed away peacefully on Friday morning January 27, 2012. Born June 14, 1954 in Miami, Florida she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Violet Ford DiStiso. As a young baby she was honored by being kissed by Elvis Presley. ?Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing? ?Camille Pissarro. Toni was a wonderfully artistic person and brought joy to others in the world with her talents. Her many artistic talents included jewelry making, painting, crochet and cake decorating. She had a passion for music and during the 1970?s had the great pleasure to work with KC and the Sunshine Band. Toni enjoyed a good game of cards, especially poker and looked forward to her weekly Saturday night poker game. Her other great pleasures in life were her Chihuahua Bella, Disney World, camping and traveling but only in things with four wheels. Most of all besides spending time with her family she really enjoyed the company of her very close friends. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 38 years Harry Byrd; daughter Valerie L. Byrd Fort (Marty Fort); one sister Linda DiStiso; nephews David and Richard Johnson; niece Yvonne Evans; her special canine companion Bella and her grand dogs Lucky and Mozzy. Toni is also survived by several very close lifelong friends. Very special thanks to all of her friends and family for their show of faith, love and support over these past several months. The family would also like to thank Hospice Care of Tri-County for all of their love and compassion for Toni. A celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday afternoon January 31 at 2 P.M. in Virginia Wingard United Methodist Church 1500 Broad River Road Columbia. Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Monday evening January 30, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. in Woodridge Funeral Home 138 Corley Mill Road Lexington. Entombment will take place at Woodridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Toni?s memory to St. Jude?s Children Hospital or PETS Inc.
