Obituary of Hazel Bryant Medlin

Memorial services for Hazel Ruth Bryant Medlin, 67, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Whaley Street United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Noble Miller. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington will be assisting the family. Mrs. Medlin, widow of Bobby Eugene Medlin, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, on November 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Lawrence Bryant and Josephine Viola Murphy Bryant. Mrs. Medlin enjoyed flowers and Southern Gospel music. She was devoted to her son, Michael, and her loving family and will be dearly missed. Surviving Mrs. Medlin are her sons, Michael Medlin of West Columbia, Tommy Charles Elders, Jr., of Tampa, FL; daughter, Toni Yolanda Elders of West Columbia; step-sons, Ronnie Medlin, Frankie Medlin, and Roy Medlin; sisters, Jeanette Bryant Baggott (Jerry) of Gaston and Joyce Chase (Danny) of Gilbert; two half-sisters, Mary Lois Matthews of West Columbia and Mozelle Nelson of Clinton; half-brother, U. G. Bryant of Florence; two nieces, Sandra Butler and fiancé Evan Dekle and Frankie Amick (Dean); eight additional nieces; three grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine ?Tootsie? Lowman; half-sister, Thelma Loftin; half-brothers, Tommy, James, and Lewis Bryant; and step-son, Robbie Medlin. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Medlin?s honor to The American Cancer Society, 28 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The family would like to give special thanks to Cindy and Chuck Davis and Marilyn ?Nana? Warren. Additional thanks to Dr. Steven Madden and the nurses and staff on the 8th Oncology Floor of Lexington Medical Center.
