Obituary of Evelyn Phagan Grant

West Columbia, SC Ms. Evelyn P. Grant passed away April 14, 2012. She was born Dec. 29, 1932 in Cedar Town, Ga. the daughter of Pearl and Julius Phagan. Evelyn worked as an administrative assistant for Westinghouse and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, SC for many years. She lived in the West Columbia area for the majority of her life. Evelyn loved her church and enjoyed working with the children and youth. She was a caring and dedicated mother and friend. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Carl Grant. She is also predeceased by both her parents and her two sons, Stephen Grant and Bradley Grant. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Carla Atkinson of West Columbia as well as two grand-children: Aimee Bowen and her husband, Jesse, of West Columbia and Clifton Atkinson of N.Y. and two great-grandchildren: Sophia and Ava Bowen. Also surviving is one sister, Ruby Phagan Dill (Richard) of West Columbia. The family has planned a memorial service at Trinity Baptist Church for Tuesday, April 17th at 3 p.m. Family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to go to Trinity Baptist Church Children?s Program, 2003 Charleston Highway Cayce, SC 29033.
