Mary Violette

Obituary of Mary Frances Violette

Mary Frances Violette died on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012, thirteen years after her beloved husband, Paul Randolph Violette, who died on Memorial Day, 1999. To Mary, family was everything. In addition to raising four sons, she cared for her dear mother, Dovia, who lived with her for thirty-one years, following the death of her father, Ambrose. Mary is survived by her brother, Jimmy, and his wife Bobbie (she lost her beloved baby brother in Vietnam, her sister, Shelby Jean, and her beloved oldest brother, Bob, and his beloved wife, Jean, to cancer in 1994). Mary is also survived by her four beloved sons: Jon, Brian, Mark and Erik; her three daughter in-laws: Lisa, Sara and Tricia; her four grandsons: Zack, Austin, Noah and Conner; her three granddaughters: Kelsey, Rachel and Erika; her nephews: Steve, Mike, Kevin, Dan, Christopher, Robby, Adam and Jeff; her nieces Theresa, Debra, JoAnna and Joanne; her brother in-laws Ron and Mark; her sister in-laws, Marie, Dulcie, Sharon and Janice; her cousin Susan; and her very beloved friend, Therese. Mary Violette was full of kindness and grace. Mary was an extraordinary beauty with a brilliant intellect, and was a member of the Honor Society during her years in high school. She was quick-witted, and had a sharp tongue, though she never said a bad word about anyone - she always said, "If you don't have something nice to say about someone, don't say anything". Mary was very patriotic. After her family, Mary loved her country more than anything else. She embodied the American ideals of fairness and equality for everyone. It was more than fitting that both she and her husband died on Memorial Day. Mary was also athletic. She loved to swim, play softball (often pitching) and bowl. She bowled in many tournaments, and won many trophies. Mary will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends, but her spirit will live on in their minds and hearts forever. Mary's body will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Paul, at Woodridge Cemetery, 138 Corley Mill Road, in Lexington, SC, on Saturday, June 2. Graveside services will be held that day at 1:30. Flowers may be sent to Woodridge Funeral Home at the same address,138 Corley Mill Road, in Lexington, SC, 29072, (803) 957-7252.
