Obituary of Jean Wise

Born December 8th, 1962 to Hershel Ray Wise and the late Eleanor Jean Wise, Jeannie was the family?s miracle baby. She was born with a defect of her esophagus that led to four major surgeries before five months of age. Much to everyone?s surprise, Jeannie overcame her struggle to live a happy, fulfilled childhood. Jeannie was a lifetime resident of the Cayce/West Columbia area. She was a 1982 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and later attended Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School to obtain her Nursing Technician Certificate. Those who knew Jeannie loved her and those who didn?t would have. She was a very loving, devoted Maw Maw to her only granddaughter Peyton Wise. Jeannie fought a 10-month long battle with lung cancer until, as Peyton worded it, ?God came and took her heart? on September 18, 2012. Surviving are her daughter Jamie Wise-Howard and son-in-law Joshua Howard of West Columbia; granddaughter Peyton Wise; father Hershel Wise of West Columbia; sisters, Cheryl Johnson and Debra Rector; brother, Ray Wise; three nieces, two nephews and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Eleanor Jean Wise and grandparents Felder and Earlie Mae Wise and Seth and Azalie Price. A gathering in celebration of Jeannie?s life will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the home of her daughter at 103 Savanna Woods Circle, West Columbia, SC 29170. The family would like to express extreme gratitude to the staff at Amedisys Hospice, especially Laura and Lisa, and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Amedysis.
