Mr. Crowe, a talented decorator, visual merchandiser and display designer, was the founder, in 1965, of Displays Unlimited, a respected display and convention service in the State. He retired from the business in 2004. A loving and loved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of seventy years, Louise Frick Crowe, and by his sons George Murray Crowe (Cindy) of West Columbia and Danny Calvert Crowe (Sharon Bramlett) of Columbia. He had five grandchildren: George Thomas Crowe (Amber) of West Columbia, Ash Crowe of York, Pennsylvania, Jason Crowe (Heather) of West Columbia, Dr. Colin Crowe (Dr. Matt Kostura) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ben Crowe of Boone, North Carolina. He had four great-children: Bailey and Brice Crowe of West Columbia, and Michael and Mae Kostura of Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Enoree and raised in Whitmire, Mr. Crowe moved to Columbia following his graduation from high school in 1946. He attended Columbia Commercial College and worked initially as a store displayman for S.H. Kress on Main Street. He found love at the five and ten cents store where he met his co-employee and future wife. For 18 years, he showcased his talents as Display Manager for Belk Department Store, including supervision of the then Columbia Christmas traditions of mechanical display windows and a Nativity on the outdoor store marquee on Main and Hampton Streets. In his thirties, he was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the PTA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
