Obituary of Dorothy Ann Knight

Dorothy Ann Knight, 78, passed away on March 6, 2021 in Ridge Springs, South Carolina. The date of her cremation was March 25, 2021 at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29072.

 

Dorothy was born in Columbia, South Carolina to George Collins Knight and Mary Elizabeth Knight on January 5, 1943. She loved music, piano and dancing, especially going to the beach to "shag." She had a smile that could light up any room and her hazel eyes would turn green sometimes that shimmered like the sea. 

 

She received her Masters from USC in Columbia, South Carolina, worked for over 21 years as a medical technologist at Richland Memorial  Hospital and was head over in the laboratory with the US Army until the time of her retirement as a Sgt. with Honors. She was a US veteran of the Gulf War. 

 

Dorothy was proceeded by her beloved father, George Collins Knight, her beloved mother, Mary Elizabeth Knight and her beloved son, Daniel Monteith Caine.

 

Dorothy is survived by; one son, William "Jones" Caine; two daughters;  Sherri Carmine Turner and Dorothy Ann Dantzler; seven grandchildren; Victoria Whitney Caine, Braydon Jones Caine, William Jones Caine Jr, Sarah Danielle Caine, Bates Beckham, Christopher Turner, Kimberly Turner; three  great- grandchildren, Raelynn Alexis Caine, Caleb Caine, and Chase Beckham.

 

The family of Dorothy wishes to extend our sincerest Thank You to Jesus , her son, William "Jones" Caine with selflessly putting his life on hold to care for our mother at his home until her last breathe, the doctors, nurses, CLTC of SC and Woodridge Funeral Home for helping to guide our family through this difficult time with the loss of our matriarch, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
