
Obituary of Vernon Elders
OBITUARY – Vernon “Buddy” Elders – A Celebration of Life service for Vernon Elders, 77, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Pastor Julian Boles will officiate. Entombment in the Woodridge Mausoleum will follow the service. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Buddy Elders passed away April 13, 2021. Born in Salley, SC, he was a son of the late George Elders and Nolie Cooper Elders. Buddy was a well-loved, hard-working man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him. When not working, Buddy enjoyed hunting and fishing, old car restoration, and many other hobbies.
Buddy is survived by his son, Ricky Elders (Diane) of Patrick; daughters, Robin Elders of Lexington, Lisa VanLieu (Bobby) of Lexington; son, Michael Carter of Hartford, CT; grandchildren, Matthew Wooten (Diamond), Lorna Elders, Garrett Crumpton (Brittany), Megan Caughman (Ricky), Devon Peeples (April); 8 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine “Teeny” Mitchum of Windsor, Helen Metcalf; brother, Gene Ray Elders. In addition to his parents, Vernon was predeceased by his loving wife of many years, June Elders; sister, Sandy Lane; brothers, “Cowboy” Elders, Glenn Hallman.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Lexington Medical Center for their loving care, and Dr. Carol Choe for her professional and thoughtful care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made towards the cost of Buddy’s funeral services in the care of one of his daughters.
