I will always remember that awesome smile and funny humor that you had and the stories you told about
PopPop Bill and the things that you experienced with our family in the younger years you would always smile. I remember how you loved the outdoors working in the yard and how beautiful it always was. I will miss you uncle Ronnie but I know your pain is gone and your celebrating with my mom and dad. Love you Shelly

Thank you for the pictures and obituary. Ron was a kind, gentle spirit who was very faithful to the LBC Praise & Worship Choir. He was always such an encouragement and I know you all are going to miss him greatly.

The Cox Family was my second family growing up. I had the privilege of going on many family vacations. One of them gave me a longtime nickname “Ms. Bird “ Mr. Cox caught me shooting someone the bird out the window of the car. From that day forward I was “Ms. Bird “. Even in his last week on earth and me at 48 year old he still smiled and said “Hello Ms. Bird” He always treated me like a second daughter. Miss you already!!! Love, Ms. Bird

A poem for a poet (my dad)
RL Cox slipped away
under the cover of darkness on a cold, rainy February day
While I'm thankful his body suffers no more
I can't help but yearn for the days of yore
Back when he was strong and fit and able
I can picture his loving face across the kitchen table
I'm so thankful I was blessed to have you as my dad
You supported and guided me even when I was bad
Although my heart aches with grief and sorrow
I'm still here to live another tomorrow
See you on the other side, Dad.
Love,
Adrienne

From the very first time that I met Uncle Ronnie in Fla in 1972 he made me feel like I was truly a part of his family. I married into the family you see, but you would never know that I wasn’t a blood relative. In fact, when Aunt Mary and Uncle Ronnie moved to SC they treated my parents, siblings, and nieces the same way. He had a beautiful voice, and was kind and compassionate. I’m thankful that your suffering is over, and I will miss you terribly. Thank you for loving me like you did Uncle Ronnie. RIP - and until we meet again, I love you !

My Uncle Ronnie was a good man. He had a kind heart and always words of wisdom. I will miss our conversations around the dinner table at holiday get together. All of my grandchildren loved him to pieces and he loved them all back. It was a great surprise when he moved from Florida to Columbia and we got to spend time together. We praised the Lord when he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. He loved to sing and praise the Lord. I will miss you Uncle Ronnie. You were always my favorite uncle. My prayers go out today for my Aunt Mary, Adrienne and Ronald Jr. and their families. God is good and his promise is real that we will see him again on the other side.

The first time I met my future father in law was in Colorado in the late 90’s. We were at his house in Westminster and like almost every other time I went to his home, he was working on some type of project. A firm handshake and an evaluating eye; I could tell Ron Cox was a man to be reckoned with and I liked and respected him right off the bat.
Over the next several years, I spent a lot of time with him doing the things we both were passionate about, skiing, and more importantly, fly fishing. I remember one fishing outing in particular. We were outside of Steamboat, Colorado, fishing a medium sized stream. I was upstream of Ron. I heard a bit of a ruckus where he was and glanced his way to find that he was having some trouble and had gotten in pretty deep, and the water was moving fast enough to be dangerous. (This was not a big river yet he had probably found the one spot where it could be a bit dicey and should have easily avoided it.) He was slipping around and grabbing branches of a tree that overhung the water trying to pull himself out. The branches were cracking and snapping off which is what got my attention. Just as I was about to drop my rod and run to his aid, he righted himself and pulled himself out. Seeing that he was OK, I continued fishing and left him alone, as I didn’t want him to know I saw him in an embarrassing situation. Many weeks later, we were all having dinner with a big group and he recounted the story and told the listeners that “Chris is such a good guy that he pretended he didn’t see me flailing around with that tree in the river”. Before that, I didn’t know that he knew I was watching. We had a good laugh.
Aside from our times fishing and skiing, I also learned a lot from Ron. He was skilled carpenter and taught me how to use a mitre saw. He helped me with many projects around my own homes. He taught me so many things; trees, gardening, beekeeping, union busting, corporate politics, and words to live by such as “the sun don’t shine on the same dog’s ass every day”. I’m pretty sure he knew how much I loved his daughter. And I hope he knew that I loved him too. He was a great father in law and friend, and I’ll miss him always. I hope that he and Trixie and Penny are walking through a green field on warm summer day, headed to pull some trout out of a creek. Save a few for me Dad, someday we’ll fish again together.

Chris, That was so beautifully written. I’d not gotten to see my dear cousin and Mary since many years ago when we all lived in Baltimore, so thank you for this sharing beautiful story. He was blessed to have a man like you for a son-in-law, a friend and one who was apparently cut from the same exceptional cloth as him. May God bless you and Adrienne always. Ann

Uncle Ron was a loving, caring person. When my sister and I were children, he used to take us to the skating rink and bowling alley, which we really enjoyed. We always looked forward to spending time with our Uncle Ron and Aunt Mary. We were Ron and Mary's children before they had their own children. I will never forget those wonderful times. More recently Ron and Mary used to make up words to different songs and sing it to us on the telephone for our birthdays. He never forgot to do this. It's the small things that you miss the most and I know that he is in God's arms now. He is in a place where there is no sorrow or pain. Johnny Cash was one of Uncle Ron's favorite singers, and like his song the"Circle Will not be Broken", we will see our loved ones bye and bye. I will see him again. Love and prayers to Aunt Mary, my cousins, Ron and Adrienne and the rest of his family.
