Brenda Hartness Bouknight

Obituary of Brenda Elizabeth Hartness Bouknight

Brenda Elizabeth Hartness Bouknight, 53, of Lexington, SC, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 7, 2021. She was born on sunny March 23, 1967 in Columbia, SC to James Carl Hartness and Maria Victoria Drewes Hartness.  She was a firm believer of what awaits her in Heaven, and we know they welcomed her with open arms, along with her infant brother, Stephen Jerome Hartness.

Brenda's family was her most prized possession and she shared her pride of them with everyone she came across. Her daughters, Kimberly (Jacob) Hare and Kayla Caulder, both of Lexington, were always the topic of conversation, followed immediately by compliments of how much she adored her grandchildren; Emily Peake, Jacob Hare, Jeremy Hare, and Mia Sanders.  She had recently married the love of her life, Gary Bouknight (loving parents, Quincy & Rebecca Bouknight.) Brenda loved to have "date night" as much as possible and enjoyed how much Gary liked to spoil her.  She absolutely loved experiencing life with her family, sometimes that meant family vacations, other times it meant spontaneous road trips, but mostly that meant just hanging out and doing nothing at all, as long as she was with them.   Being the youngest of the children and the only girl, Brenda not only had built in best friends, but two brothers to watch out for her throughout her life.  David (Sandra) Hartness and Daniel "Danny" (Dawn) Hartness would do anything for their baby sister, as she would for them. They blessed her with multiple nieces and nephews.  Brenda was the type of person that never met a stranger and was always willing to go the extra mile for anyone and over the years inherited many “children" along the way. Each one of them can tell you their own stories where she made them feel like they were important, and she made a difference in their lives.  Brenda had a laugh that was contagious and sometimes that laugh meant it was funny, other times that laugh meant someone was in trouble or she knew way more than you thought she knew.  You knew exactly what she was thinking by the look in her eyes or her frequent reminders to everyone, "That's a God thing." Brenda is also survived by the father of her children, Wayne Caulder and her sister-in-love, Deborah Brown.

Brenda was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet.  No job was too big or too small for her and she was always willing to roll up her sleeves and pitch in where needed.  If you asked her what she did for work, she could give you the list of what she has done, and they all boiled down to "whatever it takes" providing for her family.   She has spent the past several years working with KH Nursing Services on various aspects of the team, including during the past year working at the COVID-19 testing sites to assist with the pandemic.

Graveside services for Brenda Bouknight will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC, 29072.

Brenda's Wishes would be for donations to be made (in lieu of flowers) to The Curing Kids Cancer Foundation, PO Box 862123, Marietta, GA 30062
