Obituary of William D. Langwald

OBITUARY

On Sunday, December 13, 2020, we will begin the remembrance and celebration of the life of William D. Langwald, with the placement of his cremated remains in the columbarium at 4:00 pm, followed by the memorial service in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072 (www.woodridgefuneralhome.com).  Pastor Mark Bredholt will officiate.  Family and friends will greet each other for one hour prior to the placement ceremony at Woodridge Funeral Home in Lexington.

William D. Langwald passed away on November 2, 2020.  Born in Wayne County, Michigan, he was a son of the late Abe Langwald and Marian Green.  He resided in Michigan during his formative years, but lived in Los Angeles, California and Atlanta, Georgia during significant periods of his life.  He even lived in China briefly.  In 2018, he moved to Irmo, South Carolina, where he spent his last two years on this earth.

Throughout his life, William was a light to others.  Despite his own suffering, having been diagnosed with debilitating medical conditions as a young adult, his focus was always on uplifting those around him.  William dedicated his life to the service of others.  He was a spiritual advisor and religious teacher to many, inspiring his acquaintances, friends, and family to love one another in the profound spiritual sense as God loves us.   He encouraged others to always follow their dreams and to pursue careers that will bring them the most spiritual fulfillment.

He was a man who understood that our physical bodies are only temporary, as is the suffering and pain we experience in our daily lives.  For our souls are eternal, and in death, we are forever connected spiritually through love.  William believed we should live our lives to the fullest and cherish each moment with others, sharing our love with all of humanity. However, he also understood that death is nothing to fear.  He was an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend; those who knew him will never forget him.  His memory will always live on in our hearts.

William had no children.  He is survived by his brother, Geoffrey Langwald; his nephews, Andrew and Matthew Langwald; his two nieces, Allie and Priscilla Langwald.  Geoffrey, Andrew, Matthew, and Priscilla reside in California, and Allie resides in Michigan.
