Obituary of Susan Denise Sams

OBITUARY – Susan Denise ”Sam” Sams – Columbia – Funeral services for Susan Denise Sams, 64, of Columbia, will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 16, 2020 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with arrangements.

Susan Sams passed away October 7, 2020. Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of Bruce Hester, and the late Doris Moore Hester. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She loved all flowers, especially gladiolus, and enjoyed watching hummingbirds, and traveling to the beach.

In addition to her father, Susan is survived by her daughter, Carla Christine Kirwa (Justus), of Lexington; son, David Edward Sams of Georgia; 6 grandchildren, Michael, Lillian, Celeste, Anne, Elijah, Lucas; brother, Michael Hester (Cindy) of Liberty, SC; sister, Tammy Youngblood of Pickens, SC. Susan is also survived by a large and loving extended family. In addition to her mother, Susan was predeceased by a son, Carlos Ramelle Sams, Jr.; and her life partner, Roger Scott McMahan.

The family would like to sincerely thank her grandson, Michael Britt, who selflessly cared for his grandmother for the past year.
