Renee Oswald

Obituary of Renee Rish Oswald

Renee Rish Oswald graced us with her love, in the physical, from February 12th, 1950 to August 24th, 2020. Her legacy lives on through in her tribe; her husband, Barry S Oswald; her sister, Denise Setzler; her daughter, Meredith Oswald Robb and her three grandbabies: Breanna Oswald, Sam Gibbs and Bari Gibbs, among hundreds of others whom she raised, loved, and cherished. She was predeceased by her dear mother, the light of her world, Loretta McCall; and her father, Lavern Rish.

Renee was born in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from Brookland Cayce High School, class of 1968, and from the University of South Carolina, class of 1972. Renee’s most celebrated day was December 26th, 1970, when she married her best friend and soulmate Barry. Renee and Barry built a world for their daughter Meredith, born September 29th, 1978, and for their three grandbabies born in 1997, 2000 and 2003.

Renee was love, personified. Her greatest glory and her legacy is in the way she loved. She was a mother, a friend and is cherished by all who knew her. She touched so many lives, rescued so many people who were looking for a home, and someone to love them unconditionally. She loved to cook, and will forever hold the trophy for the best lemon pound cake. She was the smartest woman, the kindest woman, the woman with the softest hands in the galaxy; hands that were always open to hold her family and friends and lead them to the discover their own worth. This love will live on in her tribe, and though we miss her, we can still work with our hands, to hold each other, remember and celebrate her.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday the 28th of August, 2020, at 3:00 pm and will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, SC.  Because it is not safe for all of her children to gather in one place, we ask that you join us online at that time at this link https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/52474135, to celebrate a great woman, a kind woman, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
