Obituary of Shirley L. Stidham

OBITUARY – Shirley L. Stidham – Gaston – Funeral services for Shirley Louise Stidham, 86, of Gaston, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. Pastor Jeff Wright will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery will follow the service. The family will greet friends for one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ms. Shirley Stidham passed away peacefully June 18, 2020 at her residence, with her family by her side. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Lorimer Taylor and Marjorie Grant Taylor.

Shirley is survived by her children; daughter, Deborah Wexelberg (Glenn) of Marrero, Louisiana, sons, David Coomer (Gloria) of Brooksville, Maine, Dennis Coomer (Deborah) of Gaston, SC, daughter, Doureen Morse (Hal) of Gaston, SC, daughter, Darolina DeBurger (Mike) of Oaklandon, Indiana; sister, Dolly Schribner of Walkerton, Indiana; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other family members who will remember her laughter, and many fun times spent with her. She is also survived by her beloved dog and constant companion, “Little Red Riding Hood”.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by four brothers.  Shirley’s love was unconditional, and she never met a stranger. She was a spotlight in any room she entered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in Shirley’s name, to Villalobos Rescue Center, P.O. Box 771127, New Orleans, LA 70177. The family would like to thank the staff of MSA Hospice for their attentive care; her daughter, Doureen Morse, and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Coomer, for their loving care.
