So sorry to hear of Donny's passing. Our paths didn't cross many times after high school but when they did he was always warm and friendly as if we just saw each other last week. He was quite a guy. Much love and peace to his family.

My dad introduced me to Donny at Rishs when I was a kid. Donny use to buy me boiled peanuts. A decade later I would be buying his kids peanuts. For another decade our paths would cross at Halloween parties, Carolina baseball games, concerts and Thursday nights at the Kingsman. When Donny first asked me to go fishing, my Dad said you better clear that with his wife. I did and it was with Linda's blessing we would head out every Good Friday to start our season. It was there on that pond he shared this little slice of heaven with me. Water heals the soul and there 'ain't no bad days fishing'. We fished, swam and explored the pond, the creek and the holy Saluda. He had a wicked sense of humor and sometimes we laughed until we cried. Sometimes we didn't talk at all. They were all glory days. After Labor Day, I might not see Donny until the next spring when he would call, Hey, you want to go fishing?
I am heartbroken for Linda, Kip, Justin and all their family, friends, and our sweet Bull. Donny was kind, funny, loyal and generous. He was always a gentleman and a gentle man. He loved his family, friends and all creatures great and small. It makes my heart smile that this 4th generation of Burgesses are loving PePaw's magic pond and that he is smiling down from heaven on us all. Well done my brother. RIP and we'll carry you in our hearts.

My Pepaw was a great man and will be missed dearly. I went over to his house regularly and Mrs. Linda and I would make everyone sweets and he loved our cooking. He always said his grandchildren brought a smile to his face and he loved to hear us laugh. A vivid memory I have of Pepaw is one day a few years back in Fall. My brother and I would bury Pepaw in the leaves and he would do the same for us, and Mrs. Linda sat on a chair and listened to us have a great time. He always tried to have a positive outlook on things even when he was in the worst pain. He loved all of his grandchildren very much and we all loved him. He frequently donated to an American Indian Organization which we never understood, but he knew they deserved it and wanted to help as best as he could. Bailey, Mrs. Linda and Pepaws dog, brought Pepaw a source of happiness and I know Pepaw is very happy to see him again. Pepaw will be greatly missed by many.

Sorry about Donny's passing, I'm Dennis, Linda's "favorite" brother. I didn't know Donny very well. When we (my wife and kids) visited Donny and Linda back in the early 2000's he showed the kids how to fish using worms as bait. Linda had a tough life growing up; then she moved to SC and met Donny. Donny was the best thing that ever happened to Linda!

I was so sorry to learn of Donnie's passing. I have fond memories of playing with Donnie as a child in front of my childhood home that was located on Hwy. 178 at the time. Uncle Crosson was the younger brother of my mother, Harriett Elizabeth Burgess Hall. You have my sincere sympathy.

I am Linda's "favorite sister." I also remember Donny taking me and my son,Pierce when he was 5(he's now 22),to the pond to go fishing. He made me hook those icky tree worms. It was so gross! I had to turn them inside out.
I will miss him even though I was not able to visit as much as I wanted.
I will miss hearing him in the background when I was on the phone with Linda. He would always tell me to come pick up my sister and take her back to California.
I will miss him saying,"Hey Donna, how ya doin?" in his southern accent.
I will miss his mischievous little smile and great heart.
I will always remember his carrot mop hair and long carrot colored ponytail.
He was always very kind and full of love.
Love you Donny! I will miss you.
I also want thank all the great people that are helping Linda during this difficult time especially since I am not able to be there.
Thank you to Miss Callie Grace,Katherine,Cindy,Caleb,Kip,Justin,
and Bully to name just a few. I send my love and appeciate all of you.

What a spectacular human being. A kind friend and co-worker for many years. I will never forget him giving me instructions on a particular wiring series at then Southern Bell X-Bar office, he said take notes, I'm telling you once. I learned so much and I knew he would tell me again but his fake toughness made me learn. Thanks Donny

I didn't know Donny well, but I know he was a good husband to Linda and a good person. When we visited, he took our kids fishing so we had some time to spend with Linda. He will be missed.
