Obituary of Rae Chastain

 Cayce - Rae Chastain, 95, of Cayce, South Carolina passed away March 1, 2020.  She was predeceased by two sons and survived by two daughters, two grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

She was beautiful inside and out.  When she smiled, her blue eyes would smile at you, too.  Amazing, remarkable, loving, faithful, patient, steadfast, strong, supportive, sacrificing, innovative, artistic, talented, nurturing, wise, and so much more, this wonderful mother and mother-in-law- was also a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend.

She had a lifelong dedication to God and her family.  She served as Sunday school teacher and dedicated much time to missions at Crosswell Baptist Church in Sumter.  Following her retirement from Sumter Dairies, she volunteered at Tuomey Hospital. 

She was mathematically inclined and loved to read.  At nearly 70, she returned to college taking Spanish at USC excelling at the top of her class with many younger students requesting her aid.  She later participated in the Sumter Shepherd's Center enjoying music, art, and travel.

She touched the lives of all she encountered with her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rae Chastain will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7 with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home.  Internment will follow the service at Woodridge Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate time or money to causes such as the National Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society, or one of your own choosing.
