Obituary of Lowell Edgar Andrews, Jr.

Irmo – Lowell Edgar Andrews, Jr.,  A Celebration of Life service for Lowell Andrews, Jr., 73, of Irmo, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 21, 2020 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo, SC 29063. Rev. Tim Hawkins will officiate. Interment with USAF honors will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lowell Andrews, Jr. passed away February 18, 2020. Born in Duncan, OK, he was the son of the late Lowell Edgar Andrews and Bessema Porter Andrews. Lowell was a member and Deacon at Riverland Hills Baptist Church; Gideons International and the Gamecock Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and attending Gamecock athletic events. Lowell was a devout Christian who loved his Lord and family unconditionally and with his whole heart.  Lowell was a completely unselfish man who gave of himself not only to his family, but to any endeavor in which he was involved. He never deviated from his faith and was unwaveringly loyal and devoted to his family and a friend to all he encountered.  He was known for his kind, gentle spirit and infectious smile. Since retirement, he looked forward every year to volunteering at Families Helping Families. He was beyond proud of his children and their accomplishments and would share stories about them and their careers to anyone who would listen. Above all, Lowell was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Mae.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mae Andrews; children, daughter, Jennifer Andrews Henry of Columbia; son, Justin L. Andrews (Elizabeth) of Flowery Branch, GA; grandsons, Jackson Henry, Mason Andrews, and Kody Ray Andrews, great-grandson, Jayce Aline; sister, Rita Ridley (Bill) of Duncan, OK. Lowell is also survived by a large and loving extended family. In addition to his parents, Lowell was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John S. and Nellie Boatright of Aiken.

The family would like to thank Doctor Steve Madden and his staff and the 6th floor East nursing staff at Lexington Medical Center for their loving care. The family would also like to thank the Serving our Savior Sunday School Class at Riverland Hills Baptist Church for their unwavering and loyal support.
