Obituary of Colleen Covey

Services for Colleen Covey, 86, of Columbia, will be private. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Colleen Covey passed away December 2, 2019. Born in Bedford, IN, she was a daughter of the late Walter Raymond Woody and Clara Elizabeth Easton Woody. Colleen attended Miami-Dade Junior College, and worked at various careers in early childhood development and office administration.  Colleen was an avid square dancer, and also taught classes in clogging. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church in Ocala, FL, where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. Colleen and Bill enjoyed camping and fishing in the Florida Keys. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be missed by all who knew her.

Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, William “Bill” D. Covey; sons, Robert “Bob” Covey (Sue) of Columbia, SC, Jeff Covey (Lorrie) of Henderson, NV; granddaughters, Pamela Covey Hess (Phil), Tina Covey Foster (Mark); great-grandchildren, Megan and Philip Hess, Sara, David, Rebecca and John Foster; sister, Peggy Chaney (Gene); sister-in-law, Linda Gates (Kenny). In addition to her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her son, William Dean Covey, Jr. and brother, Pat Woody.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Crossings of Columbia, medical staff at Providence Northeast Hospital, and “Heart Of Hospice” Hospice for their tender loving care.
