Obituary of Jerry P. Pittman

Jerry P. Pittman - Funeral services for Jerry P. Pittman, 80, of Cayce, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170. Pastor Michael Hood will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Jerry Pittman passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019. Born in Athens, GA, he was a son of the late Oscar Dalton Pittman and Nellie Ruth Burroughs Pittman. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of service. Jerry was a member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and fishing. He had a unique dry sense of humor, and was generous with his time and the bounty of his garden and bee hives.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Agnes B. Pittman; daughters, Debbie Pittman, Rene Williams (Roy); grandchildren, Casey W. Goldsberry (Josh), Ian J. Williams, Sean E. Williams; sister, Shirley Padget, and a large and loving extended family. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Pittman; brother, William O. “Bill” Pittman; sister-in-law, Shelby B. Pittman.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice of West Columbia for their attentive care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Platt Springs United Methodist Church.
